"Une vierge conduite au lupanar : la figure exemplaire de Tharsie dans l'Histoire d'Apollonius de Tyr"

Abstract : The Histoire d'Apollonius de Tyr from MS Brussels, KBR, 9633, is appreciated for Tharsie, a holy prostitute figure ; the episodes of her fictitious life can be compared to the lives of saints known to Burgundian literary production. Without limiting myself to mythological representations, I suggest a hagiography-oriented reading by focusing on this female character who offers a stimulating reading for late Middle Ages people by reflecting a feminine ideal of exemplarity.
